Gamma ray shield

The old ones built massive mechanisms in orbit to protect us from the suns radiation. They are failing. Most of the world is barley inhabitable because of the heat. The poles are still tolerable, but a vast deseert lies in between. There is a saying that has become poiular nowadays "the world is tilting".
